Scope and Content

This collection (1936-2008, undated) includes biographical information, student course work, photographs, and class reunion materials. A college resume contains general biographical information on Koch at the time of his graduation from Iowa State College. The coursework includes reports, notes, and exams for courses Koch took at Iowa State. The collection also contains group photographs from the Agricultural Credit School and the 1990 Alumni Days. The Alumni Days material is from Koch's 50th college class reunion in 1990. This folder contains a schedule of events, dinner program, Class of 1940 reunion program, a class list from 1940, and a book of reminiscences which gathered history, stories, and memories from members of the class of 1940.

Biography/Profile

Austin Robert (Bob) Koch was born January 15, 1915, and raised near Ida Grove, Iowa. He attended Iowa State College (university) where he received his B.S. (1940) in agronomy. After graduation, he worked for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for 33 years in various supervisory positions within the Farm Securities Agency (Farmers Home Administration).

Koch served in the United States Army for three years, and was stationed at O'Reilly General Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, and in the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He also devoted time to the Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club, and the Boy Scouts.

Koch married Virginia Edwards on October 4, 1941. They had one son, Clark Edward. Koch died on November 4, 2008.

Austin Robert (Bob) Koch (1915-2008) was born near Ida Grove, Iowa. A. Robert Koch received his B.S. (1940) in agronomy from Iowa State College (University). He later worked for the United States Department of Agriculture for 33 years in various supervisory positions within the Farm Security Administration, later known as the Farmers Home Administration. This collection contains biographical information, college coursework, photographs, and class reunion materials for the Iowa State class of 1940. Koch's college coursework includes reports, notes, and exams in botany, geology, crop breeding, animal husbandry, soil science, and bacteriology.
